Butterbox Point

One school day in July 2020 my wife and I took the opportunity to check out this short walk to Butterbox Point in the Blue Mountains. We didn’t walk all the way down to the point, but just up to the high part before the track turns south. After the bushfires, this walk offered a unique opportunity to see the landscape in its charred, harsh, rugged glory.

The track is rough but not difficult, however the steep drop beside the narrow path on the north side is not safe for children. Just as we decided not to proceed any further around the north side, the wind picked up and almost blew our ears off! The video shows our struggle getting up the hill with the wind.
